The folk museum

It was established by the association “Amici del Presepe” and it contains tools no longer used but which were essential for local country people in their everyday life some time ago. Among the tools, all connected with country life, it is worth mentioning at least the wooden press used in the oil mills, which were ricovered and restored by the members of the association.

It has been recently opened in the ex seat of the Carabineer barracks, in Piazza Malta. It contains documents, tools and relics collected since the second half of the 40’s by Lucio Parrotto, director of the Museum who worked as a miner in Belgium for over thirty years. The museum is a unique resource to reconstruct the history of mining which was essential for the post-war rebuilding of Italy.
